Episode Summary

The neighborhood you grow up in can have a huge impact on the trajectory of your life. It can influence you both positively and negatively. Jesse Hernandez is here to discuss his neighborhood and the impact it played on his life. Listen as Jesse and Linda talk about:

  • The roughness his neighborhood embodied when he was growing up
  • The city making investments and changing the overall appearance of his neighborhood, which he is still a part of
  • His community and friends who helped guide him to be a better person and make better choices
  • Giving back to his neighborhood and helping the next generation

Even though Jesse’s neighborhood was not the best, it was still his home. Through his story, you can hear how he overcame negative influences with the help of a supportive community. Jesse is breaking up with a neighbourhood cycle and kicking all the goals on the way.
